Mirza Fakhrul criticises govt for failing to arrest prices of essential

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir criticised the government for failing to control prices of essentials. People are suffering a lot due to rise in prices of rice, rental, oil, salt and other essentials, he said. Violence flares up over UP polls: 7 killed in Narsingdi, Rangamati, Magura

With the second-phase union parishad election drawing nearer, violence has flared up between supporters of rival chairman and member candidates in different parts of the country. At least seven people, including a chairman aspirant, have been killed and many others injured in clashes in different districts, including Narsingdi, Rangamati and Magura. 15 BNP men remanded over clash with police

A Dhaka court  placed 15 leaders and activists of BNP and its student wing Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal on two-day remand each in a case lodged over clash with police in capital's Nayapaltan area on October 26. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asheq Imam passed the order as police produced 50 BNP men before the court yesterday and pleaded to place 15 of them on seven-day remand. The law enforcing agency also had pleaded to keep 35 other behind the bars till the end of the probe in the case. Thursday (October 28) is the 19th death anniversary of Advocate Sirajul Huq, father of Law Minister Anisul Huq and one of the close comrades of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. VP Nur forms new party ‘Gono Adhikar Parishad’

Forming of a new political party has been announced in the country. Reza Kibria is the convener and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque is the Member Secretary of the party. BNP unlikely to wage movement this year

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is unlikely to wage any movement this year to realise its demands, including constitution of the next Election Commission with ‘competent persons’ and holding the next general election under a polls-time neutral government, party insiders said.
